Hello PES Families!
On behalf of the staff at Plattsmouth Elementary School, I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and welcome you to our school!
I am entering my third year as the ES principal. Previously, I was an assistant principal in Millard Public Schools, first at Upchurch Elementary and then at Neihardt Elementary. Prior to joining MPS, I was a teacher and instructional facilitator in Elkhorn Public Schools. I taught 2nd and 3rd grade for 10 years before moving into an instructional facilitator role.
While I don’t have any children of my own, I have three wonderful nephews whom I spend as much time with as possible, as well as two large dogs (golden retriever and goldendoodle) who enjoy going for walks and exploring local parks! Perhaps the biggest question you have for me is, “How do you say your last name?!” It’s pronounced “Pet tra check,” but I’ll answer to anything close or Ms. P.
As a school staff, we are excited to welcome approximately 460 students into our school family, both remotely and in person, for the 2020-21 school year. Plattsmouth Elementary School is centered around the belief that education is a cooperative effort that requires strong support and communication between families, the community, and the school. Through this collaboration, we strive for Academic achievement, positive Behavior, and Civic engagement.
Our teachers are highly qualified and develop classroom communities where students work collaboratively and individually to achieve success. All students receive instruction in music, art, physical education, library/media, and digital learning opportunities. We also have full-time special education, Title I Reading, and High Ability educators who ensure growth for all students. Through the Multi-Tiered System of Support, we develop and implement plans to improve academic achievement and encourage positive behavior.
We look forward to partnering with you in the development of your children and are excited for the 2020-21 school year! Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions, concerns, comments, or just to introduce yourself. Connect with us on Facebook and Twitter as well!
Here’s to a great year!
Amy Petricek, Principal
